On Saturday, June 8th 2019, a multiplier event took place successfully at the Youth Makerspace Larnaka of the Youth Board of Cyprus, aiming to disseminate the philosophy, the goals as well as the main accomplishments of the EU funded projects “ENGINITE” (https://www.enginite.eu/) and “INTELed” (https://www.inteled.org/).
The event was entitled “Contemporary teaching approaches and their pedagogical value in the 21st century education”, as it aspired to communicate across the pedagogical frameworks and the teaching approaches employed in the context of the two projects
The event was mainly attended by pre-service and in-service teachers, academics, policy-makers, parents, and representatives of teacher associations, who were interested in finding out more about learning theories and the pedagogies underpinning the two projects.
A series of presentations took place, giving the overall impression of the EU funded projects “ENGINITE” and “INTELed”, as follows:
Mrs. Elena Kalli (Youth officer of the Youth Board of Cyprus), opened the event with a greeting and welcomed the attendants at the Youth Makerspace of Larnaka.
Dr Yiannis Georgiou (INTELed & ENGINITE project manager, Cyprus University of Technology / CYENS) delivered a presentation on the pedagogical framework of technology-enhanced embodied learning as this was applied in the context of the INTELed project
Mrs. Christina Achilleos (ENGINITE Project partner, GrantXpert consulting) delivered a presentation on the pedagogical framework of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as this was applied in the context of the ENGINITE project
The event concluded with a tour at the Youth Makerspace Larnaka, during which the attendees had the opportunity to find out more about the educational programmes and activities of the Youth Makerspace Larnaka.
Overall, the event was a very successful one. The participants had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of contemporary pedagogical approaches which can reform and reshape current education, as we know it today.
