On Thursday, March 28th 2019, the first INTELed multiplier event took place at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, in Nicosia, Cyprus, aiming to disseminate the theoretical and pedagogical framework of INTELed, the philosophy and the goals as well as the main outcomes of the INTELed European project (https://www.inteled.org/).
The event was entitled “Introduction to the pedagogical framework of embodied learning via the use of innovative and interactive technologies” and was was co-organized by the Cyprus Interaction Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology (CIL, https://www.cyprusinteractionlab.com), the Research center on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies (CYENS, https://www.cyens.org.cy/en-gb/) and the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute (CPI, http://www.pi.ac.cy/). The event was coordinated by Dr Christos Roushias (CPI Officer, Department of Educational Technology) and was delivered by Dr Andri Ioannou (Assistant Professor, Project Coordinator), Dr Yiannis Georgiou (Post-Doctoral Researcher, Project Manager), Mrs Nicoletta Pantela (Research Associate) and Mr Andreas Kitsis (Research Associate).
The event was attended by a total of 30 in-service primary education teachers, who did not have the opportunity to participate in the INTELed programme, but were highly interested in finding out more about the project due to their participation in the “Innovative Schools” programme, coordinated by the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute.
During the first part of the event, the participating teachers were introduced to the pedagogical framework of embodied learning as well as current embodied and motion-based technologies. During the second part of the event, the participating teachers were introduced to the INTELed project, its goals and its philosophy and obtained more information about the INTELed professional development programme and school pilots.
The event was a very successful one. The participating teachers had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the role of embodied learning technologies in promoting academic outcomes and equal opportunities for ALL students, under the umbrella of inclusive education.

INTELed aims to support special and general education teachers in acquiring knowledge and skills about the use of embodied learning technologies for addressing the needs of SEN children in inclusive education contexts. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and is coordinated by the Cyprus Interaction Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology, under the scientific coordination of Dr Andri Ioannou.
